What we have learned so far.
The first thing we found out by doing this survey is that about 20% of people do not eat while on the golf course which will not give them enough energy. Also that 15% of people drink way to little water and get dehydrated while on the course leading to a dip in performance and concentration near the end of their rounds. These people are the ones who need to make the most drastic changes in their routines to give them the needed energy to play a four hour round of golf.
One trend which was consistent in the answers to this survey is that the healthier a golf ate and the amount of water they drank had a correlation with handicaps. Here is a Graph of handicaps vs amount of times snacks were eaten around combined with how much water they drank.

There is a correlation between how good golfers are and how much they eat and drink. Most really good golfers not only eat the right amount of food and drink enough water, but they also eat the right food on the course. Their snacks are consisting of vegetables and fruits along with Grain products giving them the needed nutrients they need to have energy. Looking at this result, you can determine that the increase in energy you will gain by eating more of the right food while golfing will help lower your scores. Now, this is not a replacement for practice but it is something you can control during your rounds to maximize what you get out of that round.
Out of the younger demographic who has taken the survey thus far, only 10% say they regularly drink alcohol while golfing which in reality is probably a higher number. Out of this 10% the average amounts of servings of drinks consumed is 3 and half of these people report signs of dehydration. Alcohol produces the anti-diuretic hormone which forces you to urinate more resulting in a greater loss of liquids leading to dehydration. Because of this, it is easily identifiable that drinking alcohol will negatively affect your round because of the energy loss.
